Yoga & Somatics

Movement from the Inside Out

natalie jobanputra

Hi, I'm Natalie

I'm a Yoga teacher and Somatic Movement Educator based in West Norfolk, relocating towards Norwich in 2027.

I've been practising and teaching Yoga for over 20 years, and discovered Somatics in 2017. It changed the way I understood my own body and transformed the way I teach.

After years of practising and teaching strong, dynamic Yoga, and my own experiences of pain and injury, I became increasingly interested in slowing down, paying attention to sensation and exploring how movement feels rather than how it looks.

I now bring together Yoga, Hanna Somatics, developmental movement and other somatic approaches to cultivate a more connected and compassionate relationship with ourselves - and, in turn, with the world around us.

TWO WAYS to work with me

YOGA

Strength, mobility, breath and movement - explored from the inside.

My Embodied Movement Yoga classes bring a somatic lens to the physical practice of yoga.

We explore the building blocks of movement, develop strength and mobility, and work with balance, coordination and breath - while paying attention to how things actually feel rather than chasing a particular shape.

SOMATICS

SLOWING DOWN. LISTENING IN. EXPLORING FROM WITHIN

Somatics is a practice of movement and stillness that develops sensory awareness and helps us explore habitual patterns of tension and movement.

My group Somatics classes offer space to slow down, rest and reconnect with sensation. My 1:1 work is more individualised and therapeutic, drawing primarily on Hanna Somatic Education alongside other somatic and yoga-informed approaches.

YOu might be here if:

  • You're new to Yoga or Somatics
You want to learn with an experienced, attentive teacher who understands that every body is different.

  • You already practise Yoga
You want to deepen your understanding of movement, develop your felt sense and explore your practice through a somatic lens. Perhaps you've accumulated pain or injuries through years of practice and are looking for a different way forward.

  • You're looking for a different relationship with movement
Perhaps your body has changed through pregnancy, birth, illness, injury or simply getting older. Perhaps conventional Yoga classes haven't quite felt right for your body - because of mobility, confidence, injury or simply the way they're taught. You want to find ways of moving that work with where you are now, while developing greater awareness, strength and choice.

  • You want to slow down and reconnect
You're carrying stress or tension, feeling overwhelmed or depleted, and would value somewhere to pause, breathe and listen in.

  • You're curious about your body
You want to understand your own movement patterns more deeply and develop a richer sense of what is happening in your body from the inside.

Yoga and Somatics offer different ways into this exploration. You might want to move, strengthen and explore through Yoga, or slow down, sense and rest through Somatics. The two practices complement and inform one another, and many people find that what they discover in one enriches the other.
